State-of-the-art GCS Display with Advanced Alarm Panel for Operators’ Quick Notification

The growing use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) has revolutionised various industries, from surveillance to agriculture. However, it also requires ensuring their safe and efficient operation. Showing information to operators rapidly and completely is a critical feature for a flight control system to increase flight safety. One of the most important elements that should include a GCS software interface is the UAV Alarm Panel.



The sophisticated UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía mission planner Visionair has an advanced Alarm Panel that includes all the information the operator requires to monitor the aircraft status during the flight and allows users to customise alarms according to their specific needs and priorities. With this capability, end-users can fine-tune the alarm triggers to suit their operational requirements, enhancing situational awareness and response readiness.

Active alarms are thoughtfully categorised based on priority for effective visual representation. High and Medium priority alarms are prominently displayed in the Alarm Panel, demanding immediate attention and swift action from operators. On the other hand, Low and Diagnostic priority alarms are discreetly shown in the Notification Monitor Panel, providing relevant information without overwhelming the operator during critical moments.


Real-time Reporting and Visualisation

The alarm system in Visionair ensures real-time reporting and visualisation of critical events. Alarms are reported at a rate of one per second in the standard telemetry data. Consequently, even if an alarm is triggered and deactivated within a second, it remains visible in the Alarms Panel, providing a comprehensive overview of the UAV's recent performance.

When an alarm is deactivated and then reactivated, the UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía GCS software takes care to make it conspicuous once again by flashing it in the appropriate panel. This reactivation indication catches the operator's attention to recurring issues and prompts immediate attention.

Visionair ensures that operators never miss a newly triggered alarm by making it appear as a flashing notification. This immediate and prominent visual cue enables operators to take timely action when faced with critical situations, preventing potential risks or hazards.

Furthermore, an alarms log is available in the Notification Monitor. This allows the operator to review the flight events, including High, Medium, Low and Diagnostic alarms and their activation times.


Alarm Panel Customisation and Modification Options

The alarm system's flexibility extends to its configuration files, which are defined in the XML format. Operators can easily customise alarms by modifying files, allowing them to tailor the alarm system precisely to their operational needs.

By default, the UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía mission planner offers two main alarm configuration files: default and full Alarm Panel. The default file contains essential alarms suitable for standard operations, while the full file includes additional alarms intended for in-depth diagnosis, making it a valuable tool for proactive maintenance and advanced troubleshooting.

A properly configured alarm system is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of UAVs. Visionair's flexible alarm configuration allows operators to customise alarms based on their priorities and requirements.
