UAV Navigation In Depth: Automatic Countermeasures Thanks to the TGTIO02

During its operations, target drones sometimes require using devices such as flares, chaff or smoke to complete their mission. These peripherals are used to offer a clearer target than how the UAT is currently helping the missile or the ground crew to locate the target. They are also used to imitate the thermal footprint of bigger platforms or to simulate countermeasures used against surface-to-air or air-to-air missiles, which has guidance navigation systems that are based on heat-seeking or radar signatures. This way, the missile will follow the heat or radar signature of the countermeasure rather than the aircraft. However, the handling of these devices is extremely delicate in order to avoid any dangerous or non-desired activation on the ground.

UAV Navigation system can coordinate the activation of these systems thanks to the Target Drone Peripherals Control Board, TGTIO02 a peripheral control board for target drones designed to integrate all the functions required by these platforms. It is capable of executing multiple activation sequences of up to 16 pyrotechnic devices. 

This control board relies on the quality and advanced manufacturing procedures of all the aeronautical products developed by UAV Navigation. The TGTI02 has been designed to be protected against Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) events on the pyro outputs, minimizing the possibility of accidental pyro firing. It is also protected against shorted pyro fuses.

VECTOR-400, the autopilot designed specifically for target drones are the best solution for these advanced UAVs with high dynamics, where very advanced guidance and navigation systems are required. The control board widens the voltage input margins of the VECTOR-400 to provide more flexibility to the target drone integrator.
